What is Foster-to-Adopt?

Foster-to-adopt is a great way to learn if one of our cats or dogs is a good fit for your family prior to committing to adoption. When you foster-to-adopt, you take the animal home for a short, pre-determined period of time before deciding whether the relationship is meant to be.

Why should you foster-to-adopt?

  • The animal will relax in your home and show its true personality.
  • You’ll confirm that the pet is a good fit for your lifestyle and gets along with all members of your family, both two and four-legged.

Which animals are eligible for the foster-to-adopt program?

Eligibility is at the discretion of Pets In Need. In general, adult animals who have been waiting for a home longer than 14 days are eligible, as well as all senior animals. Puppies and kittens younger than four months of age are not eligible for this program. When an animal becomes eligible, we will update their profile on our website.
